Appointments
Non-urgent advice: Appointments
Appointments can be made in three ways:
- Through the online booking facility - (Patchs)
- On the telephone - 0121 796 2777
- By visiting the surgery
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Non-urgent advice: Why Register For Online Services?
Try our new online consultation system, Patchs, to book and appointment or make admin requests.
Online Services provide patients with access to their medical records, lab results and repeat medication ordering.
Using the service will help you to manage your own health and access healthcare features whenever you need to.
There are lots of apps and websites you can use. At GPS Healthcare we recommend using the NHS App.
Did you know that the NHS App provides a single place to manage your healthcare? Use it to book appointments, access your health record, contact 111, and more! [NHS App]
Non-urgent advice: Try the NHS App
To download the NHS App - please click here
The NHS APP, has many different features that can help the patients manage their helathcare without having to wait on the telephone line.
If you’re a patient at our practice, you can use the NHS App to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.
It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact us in the usual ways.
But, once you have verified your identity in the app, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. You can:
- order repeat prescriptions
- access NHS 111 online
- find NHS services
- view your health records
- book appointments
- and much more…
If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can select ‘help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp.
This includes viewing your medical record, ordering prescriptions, proxy access (accessing a relatives account for the same features) and online appointment booking.
Non-urgent advice: Book an Online Consultation
BOOK HERE - Patchs Online
PATIENT FAQs - https://help.patchs.ai/hc/en-gb/categories/360005779313-Patients
In our continuous efforts to improve the patient journey and the way we provide healthcare services, GPS Healthcare are delighted to announce that we now utilise Patchs for online consultations. At this initial stage we are reviewing the system and processes to make continual improvements to the experience.
The service will be available between Monday to Friday for a limited number of consultations.
Online consultations allow a patient to submit their request via an online form. There is no need to wait in a phone queue or travel to the practice. The request will be sent to the practice, with questions and answers that specifically relate to the request placed. The information provided allows us to book the most appropriate appointment in the most appropriate time-frame.
Patchs is an NHS-approved digital triage tool designed to enhance patient access, not sure what ‘Patchs’ is? Don’t worry, they are an NHS-approved software provider. GPS Healthcare use our communication software to contact their patients via SMS, email and the NHS App and for online consultations – all to give you better access to care.
We want to make sure patients are getting the advice they need at the right time from the right person the first time they contact us about that medical issue.
All forms are reviewed by our Acute Care Team, which includes Advanced Clinical Practitioners, once they are received. This will then lead to an assessment of next steps needed in patient care. We will deliver a response by 6.30pm the next day and may be sooner, especially where an urgent assessment has been required.
Non-urgent advice: Things to Consider
Before you apply for online access to your record, there are some other things to consider:
History - There may be something in your record that you might find upsetting.
Abnormal Results - If you have been given you access to test results you may see something that you find upsetting to you. This may occur before you have spoken to your doctor or while the surgery is closed and you cannot contact them
Coercion - If you think you may be pressured into revealing details from your patient record to someone else against your will, it is best that you do not register for access at this time.
Misunderstood information - Your medical records are designed to be used by clinical professionals to ensure that you receive the best possible care. Some of the information within your medical record may be highly technical, that is not easily understood.
Errors - If you spot something in the record that is not about you or notice any other errors, please log out of the system immediately and contact us as soon as possible.
The practice has the right to remove online access to services for anyone that doesn’t use them responsibly. We may not be able to offer online access if it could cause harm to physical or mental health or where there is reference to third parties.
